Bernadette Regnier, Cargill Specialty Canola Oils
I have worked as an Agronomist in Montana and Idaho for 20 years. The past 10 years I have worked in Idaho Falls in Certified Canola Seed Production at Cargill Specialty Canola Oils (CSCO). The scope of my job includes managing fields for hybrid production, managing the quality assurance program and coordinating the logistics for US and Canada seed distribution.
How does 20/20 fit into Cargill Specialty Canola Oils Certified Seed Production Operation?
Cargill contracts with 20/20 seed labs to do the quality tests for our canola seed as well as the herbicide tolerance testing. They grade our certified seed destined for Canada and act as consultants on storage, inventory carryover management and seed treating processes. 20/20 has presented workshops to our agronomists and territory managers on quality testing and understanding reports of analysis. We rely on 20/20 for information about issues of concern in the canola seed industry. They have shared their knowledge about disease prevention and identification which is a growing concern with our customers.
What challenges do you face in the agriculture industry?
We face the challenge of managing inventory to match sales. 20/20 has helped improve the quality of our seed crop by sharing their knowledge and experience concerning harvest management and seed handling. This has helped with insuring an adequate supply of high quality seed to meet our customer’s needs. Sarah and Kevin have consulted with CSCO to improve the quality of our seed storage conditions as well as selecting the proper tests to identify potential issues in stored seed.
How can 20/20 seed labs assist you now and in the future?
The staff at 20/20 Seed Labs provides timely service and address’ special requests with a positive, solution-oriented attitude. They have helped our job become less stressful and they are a pleasure to work with.
